The building is of high cultural-historical value and the design of the stairs should therefore be done with consideration and care. Both the placement and design of the stairs became a challenge where the goal was not only to solve fire-technical requirements but also to give the building added value.

The emergency staircases were nominated for the Swedish Steel Construction Award 2025 and for Karlshamn Municipality’s Urban Design Award 2024
